About Us

EnCompass Business Adventures, owned by the father-and-son team of Bob and Shawn Callahan, is the culmination of 35 years of experience in the outdoor adventure industry. It was founded by Bob Callahan as a way to help troubled and at-risk youth, but quickly grew to include both social service and business programs. EnCompass’s home office is in Virginia Beach, VA, but they lead business adventures across the United States and in Canada.

EnCompass Business Adventure’s dedication to their clients is reflected by their motto, “What direction do you want to go in?” They tailor each of their programs to offer a unique combination of adventure, self-discovery, and challenge to help their clients meet individual and team goals. Whether leading a small group of coworkers in teambuilding as they paddle the waters of the Back Bay, or assisting corporate executives in navigating the waters of the Canadian backcountry, EnCompass provides a safe, meaningful, and fun experience to support every company’s needs. They also adhere to strong safety standards and teach stewardship of the earth through LNT (Leave No Trace) principles. Bob and Shawn’s lives are grounded in their love for nature, and that love is radiated in their passion for what they do.
